PRACTICAL LIFE EXERCISES
Practical Life means just what it says. The child learns to take care of him/herself, washing hands after using the toilet, before and after eating. Brushing their teeth, combing hair, washing their faces, tying lacins, dusting, folding clothes, setting a table either for breakfast, lunch or dinner, pouring from a jug or bottle, carrying a tray.

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
This aspect of teaching goes on in the environment. They are taught to recognize various leaves from trees, colour in people, cars, houses, clothes, foods, the smell of the air, colour of the clouds. Leaf Art. Recognizing coins from foreign countries and stamps. At Carnival- colour in costumes, the steelpan. Listening to all sounds around them and knowing what each is associated to.

LANGUAGE and ARITHMETIC
We start off by learning to recognize the letters in the alphabet gradually moving onto the sounds of the letters, then associating the pictures which go with the letters. We then move onto 3-letter phonics and the accompanying pictures. When satisfied the child has accomplished this system, there are no pictures. The letters are then sounded out to form the correct words. The child is able to read before entering Primary School.
Arithmetic - learning to hold the instrument for writing. Second step will be to follow dots for a straight line and then a curved line. This helps later on with the writing of the numbers 1 thru 10. The association of the numbers with the amount and then eventually the spelling of the words. Sums are introduced later on. The 2 times tables, simple addition and simple subtraction. Anything is used for counting -beads, blocks, toys, cars, the steps on the slide and so on.

SENSORIAL

The Sensorial Exercises assists the child with the ability to refine and sharpen their senses as well as accurate judgement on size, shape, weight, sound, smells and colour.

SCIENCE

Science is an integral element of the curriculum. It represents a way of life. A clear thinking approach to gathering information and problem solving.

SOCIAL STUDIES and CULTURE ACTIVITIES

Our goal is to develop a global prospective and study history and world cultures. As early as three(3) years of age, the child works with maps to learn names and positions of other Caribbean Islands.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE(Spanish)

Like most Montessori Schools we introduce a foreign language to develop an appreciation for the cultures of a second language. This makes them aware of the various languages and cultures of the world.
